I dress my primate form up in the garments and gear of a 21^st century God – the new God, a slave-God.

I am created in His image. Baptised in petroleum. I do His will.

I wanted a will of my own but couldn’t find one for sale.

I can only own that which can be bought.

I loathe the dollar because it is the root of all evil.

I exchange the dollar for plastic, iron and glass and they will fill the empty space my will would have occupied if I could find one to buy. These things will fit there until they do not.

I shall give up empathy for smooth traffic, electricity and high-speed internet and reserve the right to lose my temper when not provided with these.

I shall worry about my inevitable death to get my mind off the fact that with every moment that passes, I exist as the longest living version of myself I have ever experienced. It is easier to make light of death than to reflect on a life without will. 

I shall denounce global warming. It will be the fault of those others. Those factory owners. Those corporations. Those countries. Those people. And especially those who plunder the earth irresponsibly to bring me lower prices. But if the prices are low enough, and if what they’re selling looks relatively will-shaped, I will drive the cars and burn the processed liquid fossil to the store and buy the things they make and tell myself that when enough of us are hypocrites then nobody has to feel guilty about being a hypocrite.
