I'm NOT. I'm not growing anything, I can't grow anymore(except sideways).
I'm just NOT trimming my hair.
Mortal Kombat Vs Dc Universe.
That's an actual game title.
And it actually is friggin awesome.
When I saw Street Fighter IV, I had to get it. I mean, it's a legendary series. One of the first and most popular fighter games. Back when we used those old cartridge stored games, you either sided with the Street Fighter series or it's rival, Mortal Kombat.
And I was lucky to be on the Kool side. With Mortal Kombat.
Street Fighter tradition
- No gore, just punches and kicks and a few fireballs
- No killing, at the end of the round, your opponent ONLY gets knocked down
- Japanese influence craps the style most of the time
- Awesome combos that only skilled players can pull off
- Gay sounding music and commentary
Mortal Kombat tradition
- Gore
- If you perform well enough, you get to exekute your opponent
- Amerikan influence; generik Asian kharakters and names
- the letter 'C' is almost universally replaced by 'K', where it sounds the same
- Kool sounding kommentary and epikly evil sounds
That new game, Street Fighter IV was a bit too hard for a noob like me. The only way I won was by turning on the second controller and playing with myself. It's more of a fan's game.
Mortal Kombat vs DC universe is a kombination of 2 universes that I kinda like.
Sadly, there's nothing much to speak of beyond button mashing and timing. That's all you need to do.
Next.
Fallout 3.
I tried on the PC.
I tried again on the Xbox.
But I just can't get into the game. It's definitely Oblivion in a futuristic setting. Please don't argue.
I'm not saying Oblivion was a bad game, and I'm not saying Fallout 3 is a bad game. I loved Oblivion. And saying that Fallout 3 is a futuristic version of Oblivion isn't a narrow minded way of thinking at all.
It's like they decided not to change anything, just add on a few features and make it fit into the future.
I mean, the way you talk to people is the same:
fallout 3
Oblivion
The Pipboy works exactly like a futuristic version of the journal you use in Oblivion.
The gameplay style is exactly the same when it comes to melee weapons. Since it's the future, the VATS system is an addition.
The story unfolds the same way(but it's not the same story). With a little more choice in Fallout 3.
The graphics are improved, but still too similar to be ignored.
The character builder is EXACTLY the same.
So is the level up menu.
All in all, Fallout 3 doesn't feel like a new experience when it comes to doing things within the game.
The way the game plays out is quite different. There are actual choices to make. And every little action has a reaction. If you start stealing from a store, eventually the store will just close down.
All those little things are neat to see in a game, but I feel it should have at least been done on a different game engine or something. This all feels too Oblivion.
And if it weren't for the VATS system, the combat would absolutely SUCK. And let's face it; good stories ought to come from books, good gameplay ought to come from games.
Oh, and just like Oblivion, the music is so friggin cool. And so is the atmosphere.
The thing I hate most about Oblivion and now Fallout 3 is the uninspired feeling that creeps in after playing the game for more than 2 hours. The worlds in these games are just too big and after a while you just need some sort of adrenaline rush. And the solution is easy enough.
MORTAL KOMBAT!
All that won't stop me from trying out Fallout 3 again. Someday.
