Far Cry 1 was made by Ubisoft. In 2003. And had graphics 5 years ahead of it's time.
So, EA games bought over the German company in charge of the graphics.
Called CryTek, which was owned by Ubisoft while making Far Cry 1.
In 2007, EA pumped money into CryTek to make the most beautiful game in the world.
It was called Crysis.
And it was so beautiful that no PC(at the time) could handle it on full settings.
Not even the PS3 or Xbox360.
So EA set back and took it easy while Ubisoft, remembering it still had patent rights
to Far Cry, decided to make something better than Crysis. So, they took everything that Crysis did wrong, like having a linear, mission based storyline, not being sold on game consoles, dumb A.I, and limited weaponry and patched that up.
With a team of experts, Ubisoft ACTUALLY went to Africa, to learn and study the terrain and life there.
A few months later, the team got back to Montreal with a story and setting and began work on Far Cry 2.
They made an entire new engine for the game, called 'Dunia'. yeah, seriously. Crysis relied on it's "technically superior to anything on the planet" game engine 'CryEngine2'.

Far Cry 2 has photo realistic fire.

Crysis has photo realistic vegetation.

I think all in all,
Crysis gets a 7/10 for having such mind blowing graphics before anyone else the world.
And for that cool super suit.
Far Cry 2 gets 8.5/10. Because it's super realistic, Very cool graphics, and the best game engine I've seen so far. Plus, Africa never looked or felt better than in Far Cry 2.
Too bad I have to run both games on MEDIUM!!!
