A Trying Week

What are corporate lawyers but mercenaries of the 21st century economy. You get what you pay for, and for the right money, the right mercenaries would ensure victory in every battle. No matter how strongly you feel for your tribe, the Romans and their endless legions would outlast you on the field. Each surviving mercenary would then carve out a piece of that once sacred land of yours for his own.

Why fight the battle you will lose? If it is a fight worth fighting for, then it is no longer a battle, it is a campaign. To win, we must think asymmetrically. Do the things they cannot forsee. Say the things they cannot refute. Like playing chess, with a set of rules for each player.

To fight the Romans, we must become their vassals.

This photo from 15 December 2015

I took this photo in December 2015 while doing a photoshoot of the Honda HR-V. This was taken in a school near my old place in Ritze Perdana. The people who lived in that area were mostly orang asli. The message on the banner reads "Congratulations for attending school today." The additional subtitles read "My school... My home... My love" and "Your attendance helps realise SKB's vision".

It would be easy to presume that children have it really easy nowadays based on how desperate the messages here seem to be. I don't think it's an effective message though. First of all, they really do need to work on a better graphics team. Red lettering against red vignetting, three different MS Word Art clips for each message, text placed above text... There's really too much going on here.

Still on Facebook, but not in the same way

Facebook is a guilt-inducing machine. Ordinarily, no matter how much of an introvert a person is, there still is a duty to check up on friends and family. Constantly seeing what your friends and family are doing, liking and sharing gives one the illusion that you've visited.

I can't do this anymore. But I can't quit Facebook either. Need it for word and to contact friends. The only solution is to unfollow everyone.
