Does Google make us Stoopid?

Well, not google, but according to my dad's Newsweek, the internet is making people, technically, a little stupid. Not really, lemme explain.

Before the internet came along, people had to do research, go to libraries and stuff to find out about something. In depth study had to be conducted and their brains had to process information.

Nowadays, we just need to hit Wikipedia, or Google something and an entire synopsis is laid out, with references to verify how correct that synopsis is. It all sounds nice, and works out pretty well in real life, but in actual fact, it makes us stupid.

Because instead of out brain processing the information, it just sweeps through. Like reading a newspaper. Newspapers usually consist of compressed, easily read articles. So that you get the story. It has to be that way, because there's tonnes of stuff to report. And they need to report DAILY.

Same goes for the internet. There's just too much information, and everyone wants a slice of knowledge. Research shows, however, like newspaper articles, no one really remembers or analyzes them.

And that is why, just like Socrates says, specialization beats variation when it comes to knowing things. Knowing more of a few things is always better than knowing a little about a lot of things.

So, there you have it. Google makes us Stoopid.

In other news, I am unveiling my 3 most watched Youtube channels, because no one knows what I watch on Youtube, other than the stuff I embed here.

>Phillyd.TV by Philip DeFranco a.k.a sxephil
A home-made news show that makes me lmao
>Potter Puppet pals
Sometimes lame, but always entertaining
>SCADshorts
By a team of video editing students. Weird but creative short flicks

There you have it.
Oh and Harry Potter fans, don't be offended when I say...

SELL OUT!

haha

only joking. I'm just saying that because I've had the FIRST EDITION U.S. edition BEFORE it was renamed Philosopher's Stone on paperback. My dad got for me back in 1998, from Amazon.com because it hadn't shipped to Malaysia yet. And all this was before EVERY SINGLE
PERSON IN THE WORLD heard about it. Then, when I was standard 3, people were like "I got the new Harry Potter book first! yay I win". Haha. Suckers.

I'm not a big Potter fan. I did read the books. The first was genuinely interesting. The second bored the hell outta me. 3rd was when it began to go a little mainstream. 4th was the best. 5th was too draggy. 6th was sickening. 7th was alright. Man I complain too much. They we're all decent, but the first was the best.

Instead, you should try just ONE BOOK. Smoke & mirrors by Neil Gaiman. You'll never touch Potter ever again.
