War is terrible... but tanks are awesome!

Ahhh..

The sky, full of...

wait why I am talking like that.

Nevermind, here's todays 3 day old, delayed-because-I-was-working-on-a-secret-awesome-project-and-also-because-my-child-like-child-cousins-came-over-and-that-exhausted-me post.

hahhh...hahhh.. okay... lemme... catch my... breath.... ok... caught you.

moving on.

My favourite gaming show shows you the E3 wrap up highlights and shit:

I couldn't find a gaddamn M26 or a gaddamn Panther =( Had to get the good old ugly M4 Sherman=(

I could probably write a whole post on this tank. But I'll just say a few important things about it instead.
-50000 were made during World War 2
-It was one of the most successful tanks of WW2
-it was super easy to maintain because

The first piece I assembled was the chassis. Painted it all in khaki green, except the outer rims of the wheels.

I put more detail into the painting, but I didn't bother painting it properly. Because I'm a noob.

Most U.S. Tanks were painted in a color called Olive Drab back then. Thing is, khaki green looks just as good. The plastic was already in olive drab. Painted over it in khaki green.

I stayed up till 3 painting each part in either khaki green(most of the metal parts), black(the caterpillar tracks), gray(the tools and machine guns), signal red(the red..signals...), and brown(the wood handles for the tools).

Today :

today is a new day.
This is the second part of the post. And all in all, 12 hours of hard work has paid off:

Not bad for a second attempt at tank building eh? comments.

I wondered about the size and all, because I had to stowe away my Tiger heavy tank because my childlike-cousins came over(I'm no good with children).

So these tanks I bought are both in the same scaled down ratio of 1/48. Which means 48 times smaller than the original tank, obviously. I wanted to see what an M4 medium tank would look like next to a Tiger heavy tank.
I pulled out the tiger and wow:

First of all, forger the body size difference, look at the turrets. The Tiger turret is GIGANTIC, the M4 Sherman's is puny.

THAT is why I'll always be on the German side of war, even if they don't want me there. Just look at the size difference(then again, these two tanks are of different classes. The M4 Sherman is a medium infantry support tank, while the Tiger I is a heavy tank). The REAL comparison will come once my M26 Pershing heavy tank comes in. I just ordered it today, so I hope I'll get it soon.

To keep myself occupied, I started scraping off the old, cheap paint I used on the Tiger. I had given the Tiger a seriously bad paint job. I just dabbed on some RM2 paint in less thank 15 minutes after I assembled it. And then tried to do some muddy effect( which failed epicly and ended up looking like someone shat all over the threads).

This is what the Tiger looks like now, after some paint peeling and thread dismantling:

Tomorrow, I'll try and drop by an art supply shop and get some gray acrylic paint. If they don't have that, then I'll have to settle for a yellow/green camouflage.

That's about it for today. I'm quite sleepy and I think I didn't talk much about anything other than these stupid tanks that no one wants to read about but that's all I have to say so sorry. Anyway, AFTER my M26 Pershing gets in, gets bought, gets painted and gets assembled, I need one final tank. I was thinking :

Either get a German medium tank (so that I'll have one heavy and one medium tank of each side) like the Stug, Panzer III/IV

ORRRRR

A British tank. Specifically, the Cromwell. Which, even though quite plain, packed a V12 engine that made it super quick and a 17-pounder gun.

I'll put pictures up with the poll on the sidebar. Take your time, it'll probably be a month or two till I get it.
