Dead Space! I'm done with it! I've played a lot of games this past year(this past 5 years in fact), probably more than any one I know. It's safe to say Dead Space is the best one I've seen this year. So, if Prince of Persia(2008) or any other new game coming out around Christmas time isn't as good, then Game of the Year 2008 is DEAD SPACE!
Maybe I'm over exaggerating. I dunno. Assassins Creed was really good too, but it wasn't good enough. Assassins Creed was repetitive. I had to force my way through some missions, because even though the formula behind it was awesome, when you reuse it too much it gets boring. Dead Space NEEDS you to change tactics, up to the final boss battle.
It's good. So pick up your balls and play it!
Everyone seems to be having the post SPM blues right now. There's something very Buddhist about this. Like 'expecting something isn't as good the something itself'. In our case, we expected loads of fun and freedom, but the wait was better. This is also the case for things we buy. Like, say, buy a brand you PC. You're most excited while waiting for it to arrive, then comes all the little problems that eventually cause you to be angry. Things that we love are things that have the power to bring us great suffering I guess. The weird part is that I rely on a Buddhist monks view on how to live. His name is Mathieu Ricard. And ever since I saw his talk on TED.com, I never got angry or hated anything. Very enlightening. His video is probably the only thing I've kept in my 'sacred-all-powerful-pirated-game-cracking-external-hard-drive' since day one.
All these negative feelings are just on the outside, like a dark storm cloud. Move closer to the cloud, and you see how everything is just on the surface. Keep training your mind to not feel negative emotions, soon, like me, you only have to pretend to be sad, angry, hateful. But don't push it, then, like me, you'll have to pretend to be happy.
What I'm saying is, keep looking for things that make you happy.
And ignorance is NOT always bliss.
On the contrary, an ignorant man, let's say, a terrorist, doesn't understand why other people don't do the 'right' thing(or in this case, his version of the right thing). And proceed to do something very irrational. No doubt the terrorist is both ignorant and full of hate.
Feigning ignorance is bliss. If you know what's going on, or NOT know what's going on but still not care, then you'll probably be blissful.
I just accept how weird this world is.
There's a song by Tool that I think explains just how I feel about terrorism and the 'civilized' world. I'll sing it for you! :
Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.
Don't these talking monkeys know that
Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys,
Where there's one you're bound to divide it.
Right in two.
Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason.
And this is what they choose.
And this is what they choose...
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs,
They forge a blade,
And where there's one
they're bound to divide it,
Right in two.
Right in two.
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey.
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs.
They make a club.
And beat their brother, down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.
Cut it all right in two [x4]
Fight over the clouds, over wind, over sky
Fight over life, over blood, over prayer,
overhead and light
Fight over love, over sun,
over another, Fight...
Angels on the sideline again.
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again
Wondering when this tug of war will end.
Lols, anyway. Yesterday was weird. I was listening to Tool, and for the first time in YEARS, both my parents came into the room and said it was good music for a change. Ha ha haha hh ah h. Guess they got sick of Lamb of God, Nevermore and Metallica. I am kinda too. not really. I just need new songs to listen to, who better to steal music from then Tool?
Oh wait, Tool is against piracy of music...
Dream Theater isn't!
Well at least Mike Portnoy isn't...
I'm not. I don't think this industrialization and commercialization of music is valid. Don't ever put a price on art.
In the old Greek days, artists and philosophers were held VERY highly. But both were poor. Socrates himself lived on the streets! Still, kings and generals would seek education and entertainment from these poor, but great people. So why in the world would I make an artist a little richer? I still respect James Maynard Keenan(tool) a little more than Lars Ulrich(metallica), even though I've spent money on original Metallica albums, but only stolen Tool music. Think about it...
A lot of people are making money off music. But I'll not pay a cent! UNLESS the artist NEEDS the money. Cause I don't think James Maynard Keenan needs another gold bathtub to swim in his millions of dollars.
