I lent it to Eu Chuan and he seems to be having a tougher time than me.
Ok, here's what my problems and solutions are/were:
1)once it began, the loading-video mission briefing was lagging like HELL! But this is explainable. My Pc is single core, and so it can't load the resources and play a video at the same time very well. My only solution would be to play it on my dads PC.
2)Once the game started, it was a little laggy. But I realised Cod5 has a lot of flame/ocean effects, so I turned the shadows off to compensate, and left the rest at full. Problem solved.
3)Everything went fine UNTIL I reached mission 3 loading screen. As usual, the video lagged while the mission was loading, then, instead of getting the 'click to start' prompt, the whole screen goes blank. The resolution reverts back to 800X600 and everything is FUBAR. Turns out its some directx prob.
So after reinstalling the game 4 times using 3 top secret methods, I gave up and played Company of Heroes. This afternoon, I found the solution:
I had to download an up to date directx 9.0c, because even though my card supports directx10, I don't have Vista. After that download, I patched the game to 1.1, thinking that might help. Then, I got my old graphics card driver from the box and reinstalled it, so now my graphics card is running on the basic driver.
4) As predicted, The patch reverted the crack, so I just pasted the cracked COD5.exe back on.
5)Now I could finally play mission 3! yay! BUT! the textures went horribly wrong! People looked weird, when I pulled out my pistol, the water dissappeared, etc. Misplaced textures and all were frightening. So I Reinstalled COD5 to remove the 1.1 patch. Problem solved!
I also discovered Google Chrome(a little slow, I know). It's awesome, Faster than Firefox and IE8. I stopped using IE8 a while back because it was a little crash-prone. Mozzila Firefox 3 has been a really good browser, but I remembered my Brother recommending Chrome once. SO I tried it. It's friggin good. Everything you ever dreamt of a dream browser is in Google Chrome(you dream of web browsers? That's weird). You can pull out tabs into windows, search using the browsing bar, and it hardly ever crashes. Plus, youtube vids are 10x faster on it. And the startup page is really cool, it shows all your favourite webpages, so you can just select it off the list.
But! it's got some ways to go before beating Firefox. Because it's a memory hog. And some sites don't support Google Chrome YET!
Back to COD!
What I find weird is that the Americans call the Japanese soldiers 'tojo'.
Which is totally wrong, because 'tojo' sounds to cute for someone who charges in scary banzai attacks.
World at War is Much more gruesome than Modern Warfare.
Just look at what I did to poor old Tojo.

If you look closer, you can see the guys intestines and his hand is shot off.
By my machine gun. Sorry man, he was gonna banzai me.

But, I'm prepared to forgive any game that let's me do this!
