I shifted back into Lamb Of God mode. Well, not really. It's just that after listening to Metallica for a whole month, it got boring. Not that I'm going to stop listening to them. It's just that nowadays my finger automatically scrolls to my Lamb of God playlist instead of Metallica.
And I don't think I'll be joining my fellow TOPEDians in this whole "one week one game" business. I reevaluated. I don't want to use this machine anymore. I want to go back to being in my favorite phase.
I tried out Company of Heroes just now. I'm getting better at it. Killed a really tough enemy. You see, Company of Heroes is THE MOST ADVANCED strategy game created. Before this, strategy games relied on the size of your army, speed of deployment and resource gathering. Company of Heroes redid the entire system.
Instead of the old formula used in most Command & Conquer games (50 Infantry vs 1 tank, the infantry will win, because they give more damage), Company of heroes used a more logical system. But one that required a killer system to be run and a brand new game engine. Troops on the battlefield take cover behind obstacles instead of waiting out in the open as seen in older games.
To make sure this new system worked, the developers made sure that the person controlling the troops of the battlefield (you) felt for them. No more churning out infantry and vehicles till the day is won. In Company of Heroes, when you mess up, your troops curse you, when they are being killed, you hear it. This makes the player feel responsible for his people. Thus, indirectly, making the player rely on strategy instead of sending out a million troops.
Not only did the new game engine change gameplay, it also broke barriers. Look at how far they've gone in 6 years.
red alert 2, circa 2000
Company of Heroes, circa 2006
Zooming in shows how much detail was put into it, and how a game this big can reflect the images seen in first person shooters like COD4
arr...
Shit la..
My PC is bringing me down again. Instead of providing me with genuine fun, it has become an addiction. It's my enemy. I have to kill it.
I'm just removing an enemy.
Remorse is for the dead, my enemy.
Remorse is for the dead.
