On Friday I covered my first Dream Theater song (all 12 minutes of it!!!)
The song is called Home. It's one of their easier (but not easy at all) songs to play.
I've been practicing all the hard parts a lot. But didn't bother with the easy parts.
Big mistake. Not really. But the transitions from progression to progression were the hardest.
The song probably has 15 drum beats. Maybe more. And 5 unique fills to memorize.
Gowdaammn!
Screwed up a lot. But I was surprised that I could play 70% of the song OK.
Watever.

The song is cool. I didn't like Dream Theater until that song.
They're still the weirdest musicians I ever seen!!!
But Mike Portnoy is the bomb. Not technical or super fast or even humble.
But blows my mind with how he can integrate his drum parts into such unique songs.
And some of his beats, grooves and fills are nice.
I don't like his footwork though. Chris Adler smacks Mike's Portnoy's ass with a wet towel
when it comes to footwork.

Even in Chris Adler's early work. I still can't play his songs properly!!
I SUXXXXXX.

But i'm happy.

Because I might be getting a Zildjian ZHT Rock Ride!!!!

I know, if anyone even bothers to read my blog anymore are like what the hell is a ZHT rock ride

Ok. Zildjian is one of the oldest industries ever.

They've made cymbals for 400 years now (started with Turkish army/military band)

So naturally, they have more experience in cymbal making than any of the other brands.

I don't have a ride cymbal at all, so thats another reason why im exited.

And probably the biggest reason why I am, is its my first Bronze cymbal!!!

Bronze is made of tin and copper.

My 4 other german cymbals are all lower grade Brass (zinc + copper)

which is used for beginner cymbals.

The 2 most surprising things are that the cymbal itself cost lower than
the german ride cymbal i was aiming for.

The german ride was a Meinl Sterling Nickel Silver which cost rm380!!

this one is a Zildjian ZHT Rock Ride made of BRONZE!!! which cost rm270!!

also the shipping is only rm 15!! all the way from PENANG!!!
